Professor Donald Tan is a senior partner at the Eye & Cornea Surgeons division of Eye & Retina Surgeons (ERS), and Clinical Professor at the Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences Academic Clinical Program at Duke-National University of Singapore.  A founding doctor, and previous Medical Director of the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC), Professor Tan is a global leader in the field of cornea and external disease and refractive surgery, with major contributions to the development of new techniques and devices in corneal transplantation and corneal refractive surgery.  He has published over 430 peer-reviewed articles in the corneal, refractive and myopia fields, and is the recipient of over 30 international awards.  A past president of the US-based Cornea Society, Dr Tan founded the Asia Cornea Society and the Association of Eye Banks of Asia, and is currently immediate past president and secretary general of ACS.  He was inducted as a member of the Academia Ophthalmologica Internationalis in 2018.
